POLIO SURVIVORS SUPPORT GROUP OF WNY NEWSLETTER September 1994 Don O'Connor, our president , tells me that there is a possibil- ity that our group can obtain some equipment such as walkers, crutches, etc. through a local charitable organization. This equipment could be made available to survivors free of charge. In order to take advantage of this offer we would need some members members to store and handle the distribution of the equipment. More discussion of this will be had at the meeting Sept 21. ************************************ The text of the recent Connie Chung Eye to Eye program re Post Polio Syndrome wil also be on our September meeting agenda. *********************************** If you would like to become a member of the Group or renew your membership send a check for $10 to treasurer, Henry Maciejewski, 540 Doat St. Buffalo NY 14211. *********************************** The next meeting is September 21 at 7:15 pm at St.Stephen's- Bethlehem United Church of Christ, Wehrle near Union. All visitors are welcome. *********************************** Over the past years we have had many interesting speakers who have given us information and insights into areas of interest and concern such as rehabilitative medicine, allergies and asthma, the effects of the environment on our health, ortho- pedics, orthotics, independent living, transportation, county and city health programs and Buffalo Freenet. For ideas concerning fiuture speakers or topics we would like to hear from you--new subjects to discuss, or reexamining what we have heard in the past. *********************************** V-P Joan Curley is concerned about what we might be able to do to help fund post polio research, as expressed by Dr. Halstead in the Connie Chung program. Lets discuss it further at the September meeting.
